Finalizing and Finishing Things for Econ
Here's everything you need to know about finishing up econ. If you have any questions please email your teacher and ask.
Note that we would appreciate it if anything Econ related could be turned in to us by May 1. If you have questions about that or anything else, please email your teacher and ask. Don't assume.
Extra Credit Opportunities:
1) EOC Study Guide: You may turn in your EOC study guide for extra credit. If you have it digitally, just email it to your teacher. If you have a written version then either take a picture or scan the pages. Then email them to either Mr. Baumann or Mr. Merrill. This will still be extra credit.
2) Grade Improvement Opportunity: If you want to (this is 100% optional), you may go on USATestprep and take a 50% summative test. The grade you get on this test can impact your grade in one of two ways.
- If it is better than your test average (and thus will help your grade) it will go in as an extra credit test. Consider it like a Unit 6 test. It will be weighted the same as other tests.
- If it is better than your lowest test grade, it will replace your lowest test grade. (Like the EOC would have.)
If you do not take this test, it will NOT impact your grade at all. You may only take this test once. No multiple attempts.
If you do take this test, it CANNOT negatively impact your grade. If you do well your grade will go up. If you do poorly, your grade will remain the same.
If you have Zeroes in the Grade Book and/or are Missing Assignments:
1) If you are missing any classwork
If you have copies of the assignments, you can take a picture or scan them. Then email them to either Mr. Baumann or Mr. Merrill.
If you do NOT have copies of some or all of the assignments then you can click on the Honors Econ - Class Resources link on the right hand column of this page. There you will find links to all of the digital resources for each of the five units. You can download and complete any of the items you are missing and then send all of your work for the unit to your teacher.
You still need to do the Out of the Box Assignments for the missing unit. The instructions for OOB assignments are also on the class resources page.
2) If you are missing journals
If you have written copies of the journals, you can take a picture of them or scan them. Then email them to either Mr. Baumann or Mr. Merrill.
If you typed your journals, just email them to your teacher.
If you do not have a copy of the journals, you can either: scroll through this blog and find all the journals for that unit; OR you can click the class resources link on the right hand side of this page and then click the link to download the journal prompts for whatever units you are missing.
3) If you are missing a quiz or a test.
Contact your teacher telling them you are taking a makeup test or quiz. Then go to USATestprep.com take the Domain Test for the Unit that you need to make up. Complete that domain test and that grade will go in as your test and/or quiz grade. However, please be sure to note all of the following:
- You must take this test at a date starting on April 5th or later. You cannot use previous domain tests that you did for extra credit.
- You also only get one attempt at earning this grade. You CANNOT take the domain test over and over and just take the better grade.
- That is why you must contact your teacher BEFORE you take the test/quiz. Your teacher doesn't have to respond right away, but you should still immediately go take the domain test after sending your email. In other words, when you send an email, that let's us know that we need to go look on USATestprep on that day and time to see what grade you made. If you take a test first and then email us it will NOT count. You can go and practice the domain test as many times as you'd like before emailing your teacher. But once you have emailed, the very next test you take will be the one that counts.
4) If you are missing a project.
Email your teacher for what to do.
Note that we would appreciate it if anything Econ related could be turned in to us by May 1. If you have questions about that or anything else, please email your teacher and ask. Don't assume.

Class Instructions for the Days We are Out
Note that the instructions on this page are for Honors Economics. The work posted here is to get us to the end of economics and to get prepared for the EOC.
Government is schedule to begin next week (March 23). As such, there are also some instructions for what you need to do for government as well. To read the government assignments you need to click the link on the right hand column of this page that says, "Honors Government" to be taken to that page.
Our specific office hours while we are out will be between 12:00 and 1:00, however, we will be checking our emails consistently throughout the day as well during time we are off.
Here are links to our emails:
Mr. Baumann: scott.baumann@cobbk12.org
Mr. Merrill: heath.merrill@cobbk12.org
If you have any questions, please ask them. Don't be afraid to attach screen shots of anything you need help with. If we get repeated questions about the same topic, we will post an answer for everyone about that topic on the blog.
HONORS ECONOMICS
As we finish up economics, we are reviewing and preparing for our EOC. Here is what you should be doing during the week of March 16-20. Each item is discussed in more detail after the list of activities.
1) Complete the EOC study guide Use the completed guide to study and review.
2) Take a 75% or 100% summative test on USATestprep.com
3) Take the individual domain tests on USATestprep.com
4) Finish any work you still need to complete for Econ.
Further Instructions:
1) Complete the EOC study guide.
Everyone was given a copy of the study guide in class. However, if you have lost yours, you can get another copy by clicking this link:
EOC Study Guide
As you are completing it, if there are sections you find yourself wholly unfamiliar with, you should go back and review your notes and classwork from that topic.
2) Take a 75% or 100% summative test on USATestprep.com.
If you do not remember your login information, please email and we can look up the login info for our students. If you do not already have an account on USATestprep, and you don't have the necessary information to create and account, you can email and ask us for that as well. (We are not allowed to post that information on the website. So you have to email to ask for it.)
Remember if you score an 80 or better it will replace your lowest quiz grade. Feel free to take this as many times as you'd like. You can get to the test by:
- Logging in
- At the top of the screen there is a bar labeled "Resources" with several pull down menus. Select the EOC pull down menu.
- Choose "Economics EOC Updated"
- Click the link at on the top left of the new page labeled "Take a Test". It is near a pink/purple square.
- A new window will pop up. It will give you the option to take a 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% test. You can certainly review with any of these. However, we will only replace your lowest quiz grade if you take the 75% or 100%.
The full 100% test has 76 questions. If you do not have time to take all of the test in one sitting, you can save your progress and resume again later by clicking the button at the very bottom of the test.
Once you have completed the test, the test results will break down your strength and weaknesses by domain. The results will tell you how many questions came from each domain and how many of those questions you got correct. This will allow you to target your review to those areas that you need the most help and will help you avoid spending a lot of time reviewing concepts that you already have a firm grasp on.
For instance, if your results say that you got 16 out of 17 questions right in the Microeconomics domain. But that you only got 6 out of 15 right in the Personal Finance domain, then you should definitely spend more time reviewing personal finance and less time on Micro.
Remember their domains correlate to our Units in the following way:
Domain 1: Fundamentals - is essentially identical to our Unit 1
Domain 2: Microeconomics - is essentially identical to our Unit 2
Domain 3: Macroeconomics - is the same as our Unit 3 and the first half of our Unit 4.
Domain 4: International - is the same as the second half of our Unit 4
Domain 5: Personal Finance - is essentially identical to our Unit 5
For any questions on the summative test that you got incorrect, you can click on the "View" button beside that question to see the correct answer and get a brief explanation of the reasoning behind it. Again if you need help understanding this, feel free to email us and ask. A copy of the screen shot would also be helpful.
3) Take the individual domain tests on USATestprep.com
The Domain tests are on the same pop-up window that the summative tests were on. But instead of clicking one of the "%" you use the pull down menu on the bottom of the box to choose an individual domain.
While you should definitely focus on those domains that you did the poorest on in your summative test, there is still merit to doing all five domains. Remember that getting an 85 or better on a domain gets you a 2 point bonus on that domain's test. Getting a 95 or better gets you a 5 point bonus. Again, you may take these tests as many times as you'd like until you get to the level you want.
4) Finish any work you still need to complete for Econ.
There are still a few of you who have uncompleted and missing assignments for Economics. Please make sure you have that work 100% finished by the time we get back to school.
